Abstract

The author mentions the different radiological procedures applicable to colonic study and their suitability for use in each pathological situation, considered as urgent. The elements to be taken into consideration in the study of simple abdominal radiography are analyzed together cathe
the possibility of registering the pathology of colonic emergencie by means of the new procedures with register the intensified
image i.e. inthe magnetoscopic recorder (video-tape) and the 17 mm. camera (photofluorography). An analysis is made of radiologic images
of colonic pathology which makes necessary urgent surgery in children and in adults. In children: radiology of colonic agenesia and anorectal atresias with anal imperforations; of intestinal obstructions in congenital or idiopathic megacolon; and iliocolic and colocolic invagination.
In adults: radiology of peritonitis due to perforation, wounds and/or bursting of the colon; massive and serious colonic haemorrhages
in diverticulosis and other pathological condtions, and radiology of total colonic obstruction due to tumors, inflamations, volvulus, invagination and other causes.
