Surgical treatment of inguinal hernia has been
the object of much controversy which is reflected
historically in the deve/opment of mu/tiple
technique's. In the BO's this g9ve way to two
techniques which are clearly above other !
treatments according to results. Sho¿ldice's
herniorraphia and interposition of pro/ene mesh
are at present two techniques which are
compatible, can be performed by the samesurgical team with excellent results which are
similar to those obtained by groups specialized
in the techniques.
The aim was to determine reproductability
capacity and resu/ts in the same group of
surgeons. lt is the authors' belief that with very
similar results with both techniques, the easy
technica/ development of pro/ene mesh /eaves
other techniques behind
