Se presenta una comunicación preliminar estudiando 21 pacientes con patología de la vía biliar, en los cuales se realiza la investigación bacteriológica de la sangre portal y de la bilis coledociana. Se confirma la presencia de gérmenes en bilis en 12 casos (57%) y de estos, la mitad (6 casos) mostraron cultivos positivos simultáneamente en bilis y en sangre portal. En 2 casos (9.5%) se evidenció bacterias solamente en sangre portal, con bilis estéril. El germen aerobio más frecuentemente hallado fue la Escherichia Coli, mientras q.ie en el grupo de los anaerobios fueron Clostridium y Bacteroides. La infectación fue constante en la litiasis coledociana; se destaca el hallazgo de gérmenes también en
las obstrucciones neoplásicas y aún en las litiasis vesiculares.
Es postulada la vía venosa portal como fuente de llegada
de las bacterias al tracto biliar.
