Abstract

The paper comprises an analysis of the complication, and sequelae of 100 thyroidectomies performed in the Hospital de Clínicas· (University Hospital) in the
period comprised between 1968 and 1974. This series involved no deaths attributabl'e to surgery. Morbility was 25 % and includes: recurrent paralysis, 12 cases;
operatory wound infection, 7 cases; operatory scar keloid, 2 cas; postoperatory bleeding, 2 cases; hypoparathyroidism, 1 case; hypothyroidism, 1 case; thyrotoxic
crisis, 1 case; edema of neck and face, 1 case; recurrency nodule, 1 case. Case material is accompanied by bibliographic study of subject.
