Abstract

Emphasis is laid on the importance of evaluating losses befare hipovolemia sets in, determining their rhythm, amount and quality; in the. need of a dynamic
valuation, taking into account the fact that volemia is related to the strength of the heart and to peripheral resistence and the effect of therapy by fluids. Iatrogenics
is a factor that should be taken into account since pathology of edema is becoming increasingly more frequent. Reference is made to the role of surgical
stimulation and of surgical and anesthetic techniques in socalled "shocking" operations and to an adequate assessment of the timeliness of the operation.
According to the author, clinics is the fundamental method for assessing volemia and attention should be centered in cell metabolism.
